The hardware

Connected inhalers, two ways.

Respiro connects inhaled therapy through the hardware route that fits the programme: RS01X, the fully integrated connected evolution of the widely used RS01 capsule DPI, or smart inhaler sensors for inhalers already selected, launched or familiar to patients. Both capture dose and inhalation-quality data for the same regulated platform.

Choose the route that fits the therapy.

RS01X carries the RS01 device heritage forward as a fully integrated connected inhaler. Add-on smart inhaler sensors bring the same Respiro capture layer to inhalers a programme has already selected, launched or put in patients' hands.

RS01X connected inhaler

The connected evolution of Plastiape's RS01 capsule DPI: Respiro sensing is fully integrated while the familiar inhaler format and commercial supply heritage carry forward.

  • Fully integrated sensing, no clip-on or charging routine
  • Co-developed with Plastiape, the device manufacturing and supply partner
  • Captures peak inspiratory flow, duration and volume

Retrofit

Add-on sensors

Clip-on modules, co-developed with Plastiape, that bring Respiro sensing to inhalers already selected, launched or in patients' hands, without changing the core delivery device.

  • Fits common formats: capsule DPI, pMDI and multi-dose DPI
  • Captures dose timing plus format-specific technique signals
  • Same Respiro app, regulated cloud, dashboards and APIs

Partner

Hardware programmes are co-developed with Plastiape, the manufacturing and supply partner.

Capture

Dose events and device-specific technique parameters are captured at the inhaler.

Sync

Encrypted data flows to the Respiro app and the regulated cloud layer.

Use

The same signal powers patient feedback, clinical workflows and partner evidence.

The add-on range

Add-on options for common inhaler formats.

A new generation of add-on smart inhaler sensors. Each one tracks adherence and inhaler technique, estimates inhalation flow, and feeds the same Respiro data model, at a cost built for real-world scale.

Standard or custom, the device is built by Plastiape: designed, engineered, manufactured and distributed, with the manufacturing scale, supply chain and quality systems that come with it. The sensing and connectivity inside each one is ours: Respiro Connect, the layer that turns an inhaler into data.

What the sensors read

Every inhalation, measured.

Each device captures the technique parameters that matter for its inhaler type: the raw signal Respiro turns into adherence, inhalation-quality scoring and real-world evidence.

Time Flow Peak Inspiratory Flow 62 L/min Inhaled Volume 1.1 L 1.7 s Inhalation Duration

Only 31% of patients use their inhaler correctly — the rest make technique errors that stay invisible until something measures them.Sanchis et al., systematic review of inhaler technique, Chest 2016 — 144 studies, 54,354 patients.

A single inhalation, scored against each parameter's target zone. Parameter sets are device-dependent: coordination and canister‑shake detection apply to pMDIs only.

Validated

Measurements you can trust.

RS01X validation puts Respiro's on-device sensing against a laboratory reference, across the inhalation parameters that become patient feedback, clinical workflows and partner evidence.

Where they fit

Hardware is one layer of the platform.

A connected inhaler is never just a device. It's the capture layer of Respiro, and the data it produces is what becomes evidence.

Make your inhaled therapy connected.

Whether you embed RS01X or start with an add-on sensor, Respiro is the fastest route from a standard inhaler to device-linked, real-world evidence, at commercial scale.
