For years, connecting an inhaler meant clipping a sensor onto one. RS01X moved the starting point. It takes the RS01, Plastiape's widely used single-dose dry-powder inhaler, and builds Respiro's sensing into the device itself, so it ships connected from the first dose rather than retrofitted later.
The agreement set out how that happens at commercial scale. We run the digital services and the Respiro platform. Device development, manufacturing and supply build on the RS01's established heritage and footprint, so a pharmaceutical partner gets a connected inhaler without giving up a proven one.
RS01X captures objective data on every inhalation, stores and encrypts it on the device, then connects wirelessly to the Respiro app. The app works as a companion to the inhaler: it reminds patients when a dose is due, and turns each inhalation into personalised guidance. Patients decide whether to share that data with their care team, in person or remotely, to support better-informed treatment decisions.
"The introduction of the RS01X is a significant milestone for Berry Healthcare globally, as well as for innovation in respiratory devices."
Vincent Clauzel, Managing Director, Care Unit, Berry Global (now Amcor)
"The integration of sensing and connectivity into our RS01X inhaler will help to improve patients' lives, as we bring together the power of digital technology and data science with the premier platform for inhalation technology."
Muriel Combeau, Sales & Marketing Director, Berry Healthcare (now Amcor)
"We've always believed respiratory care belongs in the digital age. With RS01X, the inhaler millions already use becomes connected from the first dose, and with the right partner behind it, that reaches patients at a scale that genuinely changes outcomes."
Martijn Grinovero, Chief Commercial Officer, Amiko
